Uniwax S.A. is a subsidiary of the Dutch Vlisco group, which has operated in the textile industry since 1846. Uniwax designs and produces vibrantly colored fabrics that constitute an essential part of West African and Central African culture. Nearly 50 years ago, Uniwax developed a textile manufacturing procedure known as Wax Côte d’Ivoire, making colorful cotton cloths with batik printing that constitute a form of nonverbal communication among African women and have become collectors’ items. While Uniwax traditionally leads this market segment, it now faces stiff competition from Asian companies.

Challenges
- Redesign business processes to unify management and reporting across the group and establish an enterprise view of the textile manufacturing, sales, and distribution activities of all subsidiaries, which previously were segregated
- Optimize product and inventory management to reduce production costs and delivery times
- Improve responsiveness to the changing wax-cloth market, which is heavily exposed to competition and counterfeiting
- Empower staff to apply best practices to increase operational efficiency and gain a sustainable competitive advantage over Asian manufacturers
